In America, drinking coffee alone is normal. It is "me time." In our culture, if you see a man drinking coffee alone at a table, looking into the bottom of the cup, you assume the worst. Did his wife leave him? Did he lose the business? Is he sick?

We do not drink coffee alone.

Coffee is not a beverage; it is a social contract. You cannot have a conversation with yourself.
